The Alley

Formed in Kathmandu in 2017, The Alley has grown into one of Nepal's emerging independent bands, carving out a sound that sits between synthpop, alternative pop, indie pop, and electronic-driven songwriting. The band brings together atmospheric synthesizers, melodic guitars, modern production, and emotionally focused songwriting to create a sound that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.

What distinguishes The Alley is its decision to embrace Nepali as the primary language of its music while drawing from a modern international indie-pop palette. Influenced by artists such as The 1975, The Band CAMINO, The Midnight, and contemporary alternative-pop acts, the band combines Western-inspired production with a distinctly Nepali identity.

Since its formation, The Alley has released original music and developed its presence within Nepal's independent music scene through live performances and visual projects. The band's catalogue includes songs such as Chittra, Chau Mai Basera, Nabhaye, Shishir, Sadhai, Isthir, and Spell, reflecting an evolving approach to songwriting and production.

The current lineup features Sujit Gurung (vocals), Pravesh Thapa Magar (guitar), Prashant Dahal (guitar), Yagya Lama (bass), and Sanjaya Shrestha (drums). Together, the five-piece continues to develop The Alley's live sound while looking beyond Nepal and toward new audiences, collaborations, and opportunities across Asia.
